In this short editorial, we want to share some initial reflections on how to approach the ubiquitous adoption and use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) applications such as Gemini, Chat GPT, Copilot, and many others. As we face this technological disruption in our scholarly activities, and more generally in our lives, we are convinced of the need for a more proactive undertaking and comprehensive discussion with the goal of fully understanding the nature of these new technological tools, the advantages of their use as well as some of the potential challenges and unintended consequences resulting from such use.
